Go home from your home office!
*Note to self
It is a strange world that we live in. And with most of us working from home, our world has just shrunk considerably.
This means we face a greater temptation to stay back 'just that little bit longer' and 'just do something real quick'. In uncertain times we will gravitate towards what feels familiar to us, for some of us, that is getting lost in our work.
One of the silver linings of this awful black cloud called COVID-19 is that for some of us there is a shift in the things that demand our time. The current changes to our work and personal lives can be a real windfall of that allusive 'more time' we often wish for. But buyer beware! If we operate on autopilot (going towards the familiar things) we may find ourselves living a lifestyle that is just as busy and chaotic as before we were confined to our blanket forts.
By being intentional in how we spend our time, we may make unfamiliar choices; choices better aligned with what is important to us; choices that lead to a more fulfilling life.
So go on, pack up the office and go home. The 'just one more thing' will still be there on your next (scheduled) work day. With technology our almost constant companion, we need to make the conscious decision to separate our work and home lives regardless of where our 'office' is located.
