There is a little bit of superhero in all of us, and our world is a better place for it.
Sometimes circumstances, the expectations of others, or our sense of responsibility mean that we don't let ourselves take off the cape as often as we need to.
Being told we are superheroes can be well-intentioned as a compliment but can also be felt as an increased burden and expectation by the 'hero' in question. Sometimes we just need to let ourselves be our less than best selves, and be ok with this.
Take off the cape, eat ice-cream for dinner, do some relaxation, watch trashy tv, ignore the nagging 'shoulds' on your to-do list, have a bath, read for pleasure, contact someone who brings you joy and makes you laugh, go for a walk; do whatever it is that works for you.
Your cape will be waiting for you when you have refuelled. Remember, there is a little bit of superhero in all of us, so you don't have to do it all on your own.
Share this with a superhero who might need reminding to take off their cape tonight.
